Baseball Recap: Strayhorn Extends Winning Streak to Two

Strayhorn barely beat Biggersville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Strayhorn never let Biggersville get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Sanders Sowell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Strayhorn is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-8 otherwise. Sowell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Strayhorn got a massive performance out of KK O'Neal, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases O'Neal has posted since back in March of 2024. Aiyden Saulsberry was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Strayhorn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Strayhorn and bumps their season record up to 6-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Biggersville, they moved to 4-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strayhorn will venture away from home to take on Hickory Flat at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Biggersville, they will head out to square off against Tremont at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Biggersville is facing Tremont at the right time seeing as Tremont is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
