Basketball Recap: Manti Sets Scoring Season-High Against Carbon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manti). They enjoyed a cozy 78-60 win over the Carbon Dinos on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Templars as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Leading Manti to victory were Lincoln Alder and Carter Mason. Alder went 8 of 15 en route to 22 points, while Mason dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Alder a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Anderson, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Manti was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Carbon still got an impressive performance from Ty Mortensen, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Mortensen is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lancaster, who posted six points and five assists.

Manti's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Carbon, their record is now 3-10.

Manti will venture away from home to square off against North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manti is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. As for Carbon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Carbon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
