League recap: Montague's Lohman delivers best pitching performance from past week

Western Michigan league recap: 5/22/13

Montague's Chayce Lohman was the best pitcher in Western Michigan this week. He won one game and struck out seven batters.

The Wildcats outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their three total wins led the league. Montague beat Holton 4-1, Hart 12-1 and the Pirates 21-4.

The Wildcats' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 26 hits and ten walks to lead the league in both categories.

Montague stole 13 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 74 steals on the year.

Tristen Schultz led the league with six hits this week for the Wildcats. His 26 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .351 batting average.



Ben Rupert, who sits at the top of the league with a .414 batting average, finished the week at a blistering .455 clip for Montague.

Schultz led the Wildcats to a win on May 14, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat Shelby, 4-2. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed two runs on four hits.
