Softball Game Recap: Gustine Reds vs. Millennium Falcons

Gustine extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-4 to the Millennium Falcons, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Reds were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2016.

As for Millennium, their win bumped their record up to 8-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For Millennium's part, Kylee Henry made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Henry has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Lanie Gonzalez and Nora Coutts did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Coutts went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Coutts a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Faaborg, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Gustine will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ripon at 2:00 p.m. As for Millennium, they will head out to take on River Islands at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Riptide have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.38 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
