Cardinal Gibbons dropped their record down to 20-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Western Wildcats by a score of  3-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  2-0  on April 3rd.
 Lydia Berent spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Cardinal Gibbons saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Dakota Williams, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base.
As for Western, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4-1 record  this season. That's two games straight that they have won by  exactly two  runs.
 On Western's side, they also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in:  Ali Solo gave up only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
As of now, neither Cardinal Gibbons nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
