Basketball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Metlakatla Chiefs

Petersburg is 2-8 against Metlakatla since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Petersburg Vikings will be playing at home against the Metlakatla Chiefs at 6:00 p.m.

Petersburg's tournament run continued when they took on Metlakatla on Saturday. Petersburg lost to Metlakatla on the road by a 44-27 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Chiefs are ranked 15th).

Metlakatla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Petersburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
