Leadership Academy piles up the points against Cornerstone Charter

Recap: Leadership Academy Falcons vs. Cornerstone Charter Cardinals

The Leadership Academy Falcons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Cornerstone Charter at home to the tune of 82-51. The result was nothing new for Leadership Academy, who have now won four matches by 31 points or more so far this season.

Among those leading the charge was Landon Burleyson, who scored 25 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Caleb Foster, who scored 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is D'Trevion Harris. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. Harris scored a full 41.2% of Cornerstone Charter's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lake Bristol, who scored 12 points.

Even though they lost, Cornerstone Charter were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leadership Academy only pulled down nine.

Leadership Academy has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 5-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44 points. As for Cornerstone Charter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Leadership Academy will head out on the road to face off against Piedmont Classical at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piedmont Classical will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 497th, while Leadership Academy is ranked 145th). As for Cornerstone Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Triad Math and Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
