Basketball Recap: King Mustangs vs. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles
King lost against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The King Mustangs took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, King saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charis Peninger went 7 of 12 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peninger has scored all season.

Perhaps the best among them was Deanna Garcia, who posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Garcia a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Perry, who had seven points in addition to ten assists and seven boards.
King's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-13.
King will head out to face off against Miller at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. King is facing Miller at the right time seeing as Miller is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial and Corpus Christi Moody will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
