Basketball Game Preview: Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades vs. Axtell Wildcats

The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades will be taking part in a tournament against the Axtell Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Chambers/Wheeler Central will be strutting in after a victory while Axtell will be coming in after a loss.

While Chambers/Wheeler Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down Central Valley 44-28 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Renegades.

Chambers/Wheeler Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Moses out in front who posted 20 points and four steals. Moses is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabel Waldo, who earned 11 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Axtell might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Amherst an easy 42-16 victory. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Chambers/Wheeler Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Axtell, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Chambers/Wheeler Central strolled past Axtell in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 30-11. Does Chambers/Wheeler Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Axtell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
