Soccer Recap: Western Falls to Holy Cross in First Game of Season

Western unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They lost 8-0 to the Holy Cross Cougars on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for Western in their meetings with Holy Cross: they've now lost three in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Holy Cross and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Western is taking a road trip to challenge Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Southern's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Western's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home pitch on Saturday against Highlands Latin at 6:00 p.m.
