Carterville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Murphysboro Red Devils 28-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Red Devils are ranked 242nd).

Leading Carterville to victory were Jonathan Miller and Hayden Harrell. Miller rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, while Harrell picked up 93 receiving yards and one TD. Miller is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 118 every time he's taken the field this season.

Carterville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Drake Capie and Jamieson Jones.

Carterville's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Murphysboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Carterville will challenge Anna-Jonesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Murphysboro, they will face off against DuQuoin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
