Vancleave and East Central are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Vancleave Bulldogs will face off against the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vancleave is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Vancleave narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hancock 4-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tony Craven looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunter Harper was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Kyle Capers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Central). They came out on top against Columbia Academy by a score of 7-3 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.

East Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Tanner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Brody Platt, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

The victory made it two in a row for East Central and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Vancleave, their record now sits at 9-4.

Vancleave beat East Central 4-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Vancleave have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
