Baseball Recap: Hesperia Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hesperia came into Saturday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let the University Prep Jaguars get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Scorpions have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

University Prep's batters probably weren't too happy with Brenden Ozaki, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks). Ozaki has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hunter Mayer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Carlos Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hesperia's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for University Prep, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Hesperia will welcome Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for University Prep, they are taking a road trip to square off against Big Bear at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.07 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
