Basketball Recap: North Gaston Takes a Loss

North Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 74-30 loss at the hands of the Ashbrook Greenwave. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

When it comes to explaining why North Gaston lost, don't look at Sai White. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points. That was a full 43.3% of North Gaston's points, marking the third time in a row White has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Ashbrook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakyra Sadler, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. Sadler also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Ashbrook is 5-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Duraejah Hardin, who went 8-for-17 on her way to 21 points.

North Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Ashbrook, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-11.

North Gaston has already played their next game, an 83-25 defeat against South Point on the 14th. As for Ashbrook, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-39 win against Huss on the 14th.
