Softball Game Preview: Richford Falcons vs. Craftsbury Academy Chargers

Richford has gone a perfect 7-0 against Craftsbury Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Falcons will face off against the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Craftsbury Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Richford, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Richford got the win against Vergennes by a conclusive 24-5. The Falcons have beaten the Commodores the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Commodores has come to flipping the script.

Kyrielle Deuso made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Deuso was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Deuso is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, MiKayla Chagnon was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Chagnon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Mollie Smith, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs.

Richford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Craftsbury Academy fell victim to Blue Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 23-0 to the Bucks. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Bucks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Richford pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Craftsbury Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Richford took their victory against Craftsbury Academy when the teams last played last Monday by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
