Softball Recap: Bishop Ready Comes Up Short

Bishop Ready extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 3-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bexley Lions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent loss being a 21-0 defeat on Saturday.

Kyra Tibbs and Rylan Taylor stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tibbs went 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Taylor went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Khloe Maurer was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

As for Bexley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games.

On Bexley's side, their win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Lemon, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave Lemon a new career-high. Another was Tovah Fliegel, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Ready will host Buckeye Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bexley, they will be playing at home against Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 13.2 runs per game this season.
