Baseball Game Preview: Swett Warriors vs. Bethel Jaguars

For the second straight game, Swett will face off against Bethel. The Warriors will face off against the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Swett has three straight victories, Bethel has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Swett barely beat Bethel the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Jaguars an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Warriors have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Golden made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Swett is 5-0-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Golden was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Gibson, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

Swett's record now sits at 8-4-2. As for Bethel, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
