League recap: Montoursville slips out of Pennsylvania top 25 rankings

Heartland I league recap: 5/22/13

With a rough week, Montoursville dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Montoursville fell from No. 15 to No. 55 after going 1-1 over the past week. The Warriors are ranked No. 1,599 in the nation, and have an overall record of 11-3.

Andrew Leitzel was the best pitcher in Heartland I this week, leading Mifflinburg. He picked up one win and seven strikeouts.

Mifflinburg put zero runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but Jersey Shore's staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only 31 bases on balls over 121 total innings.

The league boasted 13 .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Andy Aurand, who hit .750 this week (3-for-4).

Mifflinburg's Leitzel led the league in strikeouts this week with seven. He's fifth in the league with 34 total strikeouts.



Mark Artley led Midd-west to a win on May 14, as he notched 12 strikeouts to beat Milton, 6-3. He gave up nine hits and six runs over seven innings of work.

Devin Hendrix was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in four runs during the Wildcats' 10-2 win over Warrior Run. He went 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
