Baseball Game Preview: Man Hillbillies vs. Gilmer County Titans

For the second straight game, Man will face off against Gilmer County. The Hillbillies will head out on the road to face off against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Man 3.7, Gilmer County 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Man fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Gilmer County on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 5-4. The Hillbillies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Gilmer County's part, Kolten Holbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Holbert has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Remington Huffman, who earned two runs and three stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

The victory (which was Gilmer County's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Man, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
