Basketball Game Preview: Evadale Rebels vs. Goldthwaite Eagles

The Evadale Rebels will face off against the Goldthwaite Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Evadale sitting on 18 straight wins and Goldthwaite on 15.

Evadale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Weimar 65-37. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Evadale can attribute much of their success to Jaden Gravis, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards, and Warren Brewer, who to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds. Gravis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Talon Bennett was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Goldthwaite was able to grind out a solid victory over Ben Bolt on Thursday, taking the game 53-40. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Badgers are ranked 1442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evadale pushed their record up to 31-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Goldthwaite, their victory bumped their record up to 24-6.
