It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Portsmouth had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Fairland Dragons with a sharp 63-40 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addyson Cornell, who posted ten points. Thanks to that strong game, Cornell now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Addison Godby, who had five points in addition to ten rebounds and six assists.
The win (which was Portsmouth's sixth in a row) raised their record to 26-1. As for Fairland, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-6.
Looking ahead, Portsmouth will challenge Norwayne at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Norwayne will roll in looking for their 20th straight victory, something Portsmouth surely won't give up without a fight. Fairland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
