Baseball Recap: Riverdale Find Success

Riverdale won the last time they faced Iowa-Grant and things went their way on Friday too. The Chieftains came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chieftains.

Eli Campbell and Chase Chitwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Campbell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Chitwood struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). At bat, Campbell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Chitwood scored a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ethan Kagel was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Blankenship, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Riverdale's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Riverdale will square off against rival Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Iowa-Grant is set to challenge their familiar foe Fennimore at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
