Basketball Recap: Drew vs. Midtown Knights

After flying high against Mt. Zion back in December of 2024, Drew came back down to earth. Drew were beaten by the Midtown Knights 67-26 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Drew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Midtown is ranked 52nd).

Midtown was led to victory by Devin Bockman and Hailey Wortmann. Bockman went 11 of 24 en route to 30 points, while Wortmann dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Midtown is undefeated when Wortmann posts ten or more rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sinclair Richman, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points.

With the loss, Drew broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4. As for Midtown, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Drew will venture away from home to take on Pace Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Midtown, they will welcome Mays at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Midtown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Mays likes a good challenge.
