Softball Recap: Fuqua Finds Home Field Redemption Against Amelia Academy

There's no place like home for Fuqua, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Amelia Academy Patriots with a sharp 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Marissa Dempsey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Collins Easter was a standout: she got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Ledger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Fuqua always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amelia Academy only posted an OBP of .111.

Fuqua's record is now 11-7. As for Amelia Academy, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Fuqua didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Brunswick Academy on the 7th. Amelia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
