Basketball Recap: 16 Straight Road Wins for Fike

Fike extended their road winning streak to 16 games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Jamaria Freeman. The Fike Demons took their match on Friday with ease, bagging an 89-23 win over the Southern Wayne Saints thanks in part to Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 41 points and 13 rebounds. Her evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Emory Skinner was another key player, going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Southern Wayne's loss came despite strong showings from Nevaeh Hines-Bass and Kymora Stokes. Hines-Bass posted 11 points and five boards, while Stokes put up a point. That was a full 47.8% of Southern Wayne's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Fike's record now sits at 14-0. As for Southern Wayne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Fike will face off against Hunt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fike is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.9 points per game this season. Southern Wayne has already played their next contest (against C.B. Aycock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
