Baseball Recap: Masuk Takes a Loss

The matchup between Masuk and New Milford on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Panthers fell 12-7 to the Green Wave. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Green Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jersen Perez and Chris Welch stepped up to the plate in a big way. Perez went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Welch went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Fonck, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Masuk's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-5. As for New Milford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Masuk will be playing in front of their home fans against Bethel at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Milford, they will face off against Joel Barlow at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Green Wave's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
