Basketball Recap: Three Straight Home Wins for Columbus

Rice Consolidated came into Friday's match looking for another win against Columbus, but Grayson Rigdon wouldn't allow it. The Columbus Cardinals strolled past the Rice Consolidated Raiders with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 85-67 thanks in part to Rigdon, who went 15 of 24 on his way to 38 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Camdon Pitchford was another key player, going 7 for 14 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played.

Columbus pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Rice Consolidated, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-7.

Columbus will venture away from home to challenge Yoakum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Yoakum likes a good challenge. As for Rice Consolidated, they will face off against Tidehaven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rice Consolidated's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
