Basketball Recap: Dakota Mitchell Key Part of a Team Effort in Centurions Win

Broome won the last time they faced Landrum and things went their way on Saturday too. It was close, but the Broome Centurions capped 2024 with a 41-39 win over the Landrum Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Centurions.

Broome's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dakota Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Those 18 points gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Wofford, who posted eight points in addition to 11 steals and five assists.

Broome's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Landrum, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Broome will take on Blue Ridge in a tournament on Monday. Blue Ridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Broome surely won't give up without a fight. As for Landrum, they will challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
