Preview: Jefferson County Tigers vs. Vernon Yellowjackets
The Jefferson County Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Jefferson County fell victim to Gadsden County's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 55-0 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, Jefferson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Gadsden County is ranked 166th).
Meanwhile, Vernon strolled past Graceville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 24-8.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Scott, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 141 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes. Dante Siples was in the mix too, providing Vernon with two touchdowns.
Vernon's victory bumped their season record to 3-4 while Jefferson County's loss dropped theirs to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Jefferson County against Vernon in their previous meeting back in September of 2021 as the team secured a 38-0 win. Does Jefferson County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
