Basketball Recap: J.R. Tucker Comes Up Short

After flying high against Varina last Wednesday, J.R. Tucker came back down to earth. The J.R. Tucker Tigers fell 38-29 to the Freeman Mavericks on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Addie Morton was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points for Freeman. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Morton has scored at least a third of Freeman's points. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Perks, who posted seven points.

J.R. Tucker's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Freeman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, J.R. Tucker will challenge John Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeman, they will take on Glen Allen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
