Cumberland County is 0-9-1 against Warren County since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. Cumberland County came up short against Monterey on Monday, falling 13-2. The Jets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cumberland County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Titus Ostrander, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Warren County came out on top against DeKalb County on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Pioneers & Lady Pioneers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Pioneers & Lady Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ryder Gilispie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Warren County is 3-1 when Gilispie allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Gilispie was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Lealon Arnold looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Warren County's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, Sam Robinson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cumberland County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Warren County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.
