The Cloverdale Clovers will challenge the North Putnam Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cloverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Cloverdale is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Putnam.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, North Putnam was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Sullivan by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Owen Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, North Putnam saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Helderman, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Cloverdale's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for North Putnam, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cloverdale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Putnam struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Cloverdale might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from North Putnam in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Clovers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
