Softball Recap: Rice Lake Comes Up Short

Rice Lake and Lakeland squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Rice Lake had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Kamryn Kunz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

Rice Lake moved to 15-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lakeland, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-8.

Rice Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeland, they will square off against Denmark on the 13th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunderbirds 1.9, the Vikings 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
