Baseball Recap: Northfield Find Success

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Northfield walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Southwood Knights on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 two weeks ago.

Maddux Daniels made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Korbin Haupert was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Northfield is undefeated when Haupert posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaden Baer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Northfield and bumps their season record up to 12-16. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Southwood, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

As of now, neither Northfield nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
