            Football Recap: Cortez Colts vs. Fountain Hills Falcons        
        
		
        
        
            
After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Scottsdale Christian Academy, Cortez was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They blew past the Fountain Hills Falcons 26-3.
 Jamerrius Anthony was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 127 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 122 yards and a pair of  TDs on only eight passes. What's more,  he posted two  passing touchdowns, the most he's  had since back in November of 2024.

 Cortez didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Anthony led the group effort, picking up two of those  interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick  into a touchdown.
Cortez's  win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Fountain Hills, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-6.
 We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cortez will  take on  rival Bourgade Catholic  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Fountain Hills is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Chino Valley  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
