Baseball Recap: Sotomayor Takes a Loss

East Central hit Sotomayor with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The WILDCATS fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the WILDCATS have lost by just one run.

Kolaiah Staten and Noah Vrzal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Staten fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3, while Vrzal fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Jude Patino was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Sotomayor and nudges their season record down to 18-6-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for East Central, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-16 record.

Looking ahead, Sotomayor will head out to challenge Smithson Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the WILDCATS 3, the Rangers 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for East Central, they will be playing at home against Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
