Soccer Game Preview: Cape Fear vs. Hoke County

The Cape Fear Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Hoke County Bucks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cape Fear will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last.

Cape Fear had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the six-goal drubbing they dealt Scotland on Monday. The Colts never let the Fighting Scots get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Cape Fear in their matchups with Scotland: they've now won four in a row.

Hoke County hadn't beaten Lumberton on the road since August 19, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Bucks skirted past the Pirates 1-0.

Cape Fear's win bumped their record up to 15-3-2. As for Hoke County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6-4.

Cape Fear took their win against Hoke County when the teams last played back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
