Baseball Recap: Johnsburg's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 11

Johnsburg lost to Woodstock North back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Skyhawks came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 6-2. The game was the first time the Skyhawks have beaten the Thunder on their field since May 5, 2022.

Jack Nelson and Dom Vallone did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Vallone scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Vallone has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayden Pinkowski, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Johnsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodstock North only posted an OBP of .214.

The win was the 11th in a row for Johnsburg, bringing their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Woodstock North, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Johnsburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunder: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
