Recap: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Voyager Vikings

The Southern Alamance Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They snuck past Voyager with a 72-67 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern Alamance to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Epps, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Epps' third in a row with at least ten points. Jordan Moore was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Voyager's loss came despite strong showings from Dwight Anderson and Michael Gales. Anderson scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Gales scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Pullium, who scored seven points.

Even though they lost, Voyager were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Alamance only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

The win got Southern Alamance back to even at 4-4. As for Voyager, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.

Southern Alamance is on the road again on Thursday and play against T.W. Andrews at 11:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023. Voyager will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Neumann-Goretti at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Neumann-Goretti focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
