Timber Creek Regional hasn't had much luck against Delsea recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chargers are taking a road trip to face off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Thursday, Timber Creek Regional sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Cumberland. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Brycen Monitzer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Simpson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Chase Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Delsea strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against Absegami.
Ethan Dubois made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Dubois was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Otley Makosky looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Cole Hudson and Alex Grippo did most of the damage at the plate: Hudson went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Grippo went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Hudson has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Deegan, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Delsea's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. As for Timber Creek Regional, their record now sits at 6-7.
Timber Creek Regional couldn't quite finish off Delsea when the teams last played back in April and fell 6-4. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
