Soccer Game Preview: East Lincoln vs. West Carteret

The East Lincoln Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the West Carteret Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Lincoln is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.

If West Carteret heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when East Lincoln took over last week. The Mustangs beat St. Stephens by a goal, winning 1-0. Give East Lincoln's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Sophia Espinosa-Benton, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, West Carteret has been on a difficult stretch since their win on March 28. They and White Oak finished up their game with a 3-3 draw on Friday. The outcome might've been different if Caroline Dickinson hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited her ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

With that draw, West Carteret's record moves to 5-7-3. As for East Lincoln, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1-1.
