Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Bobcats vs. Martins Ferry Purple Riders

The Cambridge Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Cambridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over Meadowbrook. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted against the Colts since December 29, 2021.

Meanwhile, Martins Ferry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 51-42 win over the Redskins.

Martins Ferry is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Cambridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Cambridge took a serious blow against Martins Ferry in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 80-43. Can Cambridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
