Preview: Bellaire Eagles vs. St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds
Bellaire is 1-9 against St. Mary Cathedral since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bellaire Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bellaire took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 59-50 win over Inland Lakes.
Meanwhile, St. Mary Cathedral had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Pellston 52-12 on the road. Given St. Mary Cathedral's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Pellston is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bellaire pushed their record up to 1-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for St. Mary Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Bellaire might still be hurting after the 60-39 loss they got from St. Mary Cathedral in their previous matchup back in March. Can Bellaire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
