Softball Recap: Liberty Christian Takes a Loss

Liberty Christian extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They lost 25-5 to the Elwood Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 16-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

As for Elwood, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 9.2 runs per game.

For Elwood's part, Sandy Jordan made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Jordan was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Taylor Hawks was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Armes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Liberty Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Horizon Christian on the 22nd. As for Elwood, they have also already played their next game, an 18-2 win against Sheridan on the 22nd.
