Basketball Game Preview: Kearny Komets vs. High Tech Mesa Thunder

The Kearny Komets just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the High Tech Mesa Thunder at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kearny knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully High Tech Mesa likes a good challenge.

Kearny is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Crawford just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-58 to the Colts. While the Komets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Colts 15-9 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, High Tech Mesa entered their tilt with Southern California Yeshiva on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They really took it to the Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-22 victory. With the Thunder ahead 42-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

High Tech Mesa's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Kearny, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-6.

Things could have been worse for Kearny, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-55 loss to High Tech Mesa in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Kearny avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
