Basketball Recap: Classical Saints vs. Solomon Gorillas
In what's become a running theme this season, the Classical Saints gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-40 margin over Solomon. Classical pushed the score to 43-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gorillas had little chance of recovering from.
Classical's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Graham, who scored 16 points. Sam Wilkey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Solomon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carlos Duran, who scored ten points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Mattison, who scored eight points.
Classical pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.9 points. As for Solomon, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.
Classical will head out on the road to take on the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hartford has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Solomon, they will be playing at home against the Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Little River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday.
