Volleyball Recap: Mercy McAuley Wolves vs. St. Henry Crusaders
Mercy McAuley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of the St. Henry Crusaders by a score of 3-2. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Mercy McAuley took St. Henry into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-18, 19-25, 25-15, 15-10.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shaylin Lester, who had 12 digs. Lydia Sanders was another key player, getting ten digs.
Mercy McAuley's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for St. Henry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.
Mercy McAuley will take on Seton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Henry, they will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Simon Kenton at 7:00 p.m. Simon Kenton is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, so St. Henry will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
