Basketball Recap: Zay Burton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cambridge Christian over Morningside Academy

Cambridge Christian saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 38-30 to the Morningside Academy Eagles. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cambridge Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zay Burton, who posted seven points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Proffitt, who scored 12 points.

It was another big night for AJ Chang, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds for Morningside Academy. Chang has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Elijah Bell was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Cambridge Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Morningside Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Cambridge Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-35 defeat against Clearwater Central Catholic on the 21st. As for Morningside Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-74 victory against Boca Raton Christian on the 23rd.
