Basketball Recap: South Gibson's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

South Gibson lost against Haywood back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The South Gibson Hornets came up short against the Haywood Tomcats, falling 68-43.

Haywood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antrell Jones out in front who went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lekendric Phillips, who shot 50% from the field en route to 15 points and eight boards.

South Gibson's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Haywood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

South Gibson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Haywood, they will challenge Dyersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
