Baseball Recap: Alvirne's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Alvirne had lost nine games straight , but after bumping their record up to 2-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Keene Blackbirds 7-5. The Broncos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Alex Small spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlie Crawford and Mikey Bebris did most of the damage at the plate: Crawford went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Bebris got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Bebris has snagged this season.

As for Keene, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since May 30, 2024.

On Keene's side, Fitch Hennessey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Connors, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
